Hummel Figurine

PLEASE HELP

Hi, my mother just gave me the girl bookworm bookend. Very cute. I googled it and saw other ones that looked similar but still different. My girl has the orange polka dotted bib and orange bow in hair to match but the picture book she is looking at is not colored(the duck and flower)and other parts of her are not as colorful as the others. On the bottom it has the blue V with little bee in it(I think it is a bee, very small and hard to see) and says Western Germany under it and to the right. It has 14/B engraved and under that has a hole plugged with a plastic plug being a little smaller than a dime. Sorry I don't know how to take photos and uploading etc. But I am wondering if rare, the age and the estimated price? THANK YOU

Whats up Jerzy!

Any Disney collectible from the 1930s is very valuable!  You didn't upload a photo or mention the condition of your disney collectible, but if your 1930s Disney lunch box is in good or excellent condition, it would be worth at least $500-1000 or more.  In poor condition or really not from the 1930s, it would be worth quite a bit less.

PLEASE HELP

This set includes 6 glasses and 1 bowl, they are from the 60's, possibly earlier. There are no visible markings that I can see on it, my mother just knows that they are wedgewood. Not sure if there is a specific place I should look for any maker markings? They are in excellent, possibly mint, condition. Thank you for your time! For some reason this web site won't let me or give me a selection to upload pictures. Could you send me a link or email that I could send them to you through? Thank you

Hillcrock Pottery by Mary & Edwin Scheir, Glade Spring Va., 1939? 5.75" tall, Pitcher shape w/ handle Decorated, both sides Etched Flower arrangement, 3 flowers in a pot. Hand painted in 2 Shades of blue & brown, beige background.

Submit your estimate of worth

Estimated Value submitted by Tim

Hi Kelly,

Art prices are very subjective, however, the pottery of the late Mary and Edwin Scheier was top notch and very valued in the pottery community.  I've seen plates that have sold for as little as $40 dollars and bowls in the range of $750-850 dollars.

The value of your Scheier pottery would depend on the style and finding a buyer who just falls in love with it.  Mary and Edwin made pottery from 1939 to their deaths in 2007 & 2008.  Unless your piece is marked with the year, it could be made anytime in that range.

Sight unseen I would estimate your Scheier pitcher shaped pottery is worth between $750-1250 dollars.

BEAUTIFUL 19th C ASIAN JAPANESE SATSUMA JAR WITH COVER

PLEASE HELP

THIS JAPANESE JAR IS FANTASTICALLY HAND PAINTED ON GOLDFIELD PORCELAIN AND IS IN MUSEUM QUALITY CONDITION. IT IS AN EXCEPTIONAL PIECE. NO CHIPS, NO CRACKS, NO RESTORATIONS, NO WEAR TO GILDING, NO WEAR TO PAINTING. THE MEASUREMENT IS APROX. 14.75" HIGH TO TOP OF LID AND 7.35" IN DIAMETER AT ITS WIDEST. IT IS MARKED ON THE BASE WITH A SATSUMA MON, SHIMATSU MARK AND IN JAPANESE CHARACTERS THE NAME OF THE ARTIST. HOWEVER I DO NOT KNOW WHO THE ARTIST WAS, WHERE IT WAS MADE (PREFECTURE), WHCIH KILN IT WAS MADE AND WHAT IT WAS USED FOR. IT APPEARS IT IS A MILLE FLEUR VASE BUT THEN IT COULD ALSO BE A TEMPLE JAR. THERE APPEARS TO BE A STORY ON THE GOLD PANELS WITH SOME JAPANESE WRITING OF WHICH I'D LOVE TO KNOW WHAT THE WRITING MEANS. THERE ARE DIFFERENT ILLUSTRATIONS ALONG THE BODY OF THE JAR WITH CALLIGRAPHY FRAGMENTS FROM THE "100 POETS ANTHOLOGY" BY HON'AMI KOETSU. WRITTEN IN A FLOWING, CONNECTED SOSHO STYLE ACCOMPANIED BY DIFFERENT JAPANESE CHARACTERS SEATED IN DIFFERENT POSITIONS. I AM NOT SURE FROM WHAT PERIOD IT ORIGINATES FROM EDO?, MEIJI?, TAISHO? I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO KNOW AN APPROXIMATE VALUE FOR THE ITEM FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES. ATTACHED ARE 10 IMAGES FOR YOUR EVALUATION. THE ITEM IS NOT FOR SALE. THANK YOU. IN THE MEANTIME I AM WAITING FOR YOUR RESPONSE. THANK YOU AND KIND REGARDS

Hi Julie,

Your various salt and pepper shakers are worth around $5-10 dollar a pair or $60-120 for all of them.  They're more valuable to sell them individually, rather than all together, but it would obviously take longer and be more work.

Here are numerous examples of similar salt and pepper shakers that have sold in the past:

Hi Sarah,

I saw the appraisal you received on instappraisal.  I'd have to agree with Lovejoy, although your Betsy Ross salad maker is pretty unique, its not worth more than $10 or 20 dollars.  I would say your Betsy Ross salad maker is from the late 1970s, given the theme of the piece.

Thanks for sharing!  You do have a unique collectible, unfortunately, it's probably not worth too much.

The Sewing Machine is valued between $8 and $50. I can't tell by the picture exactly what kind you have. The value varies depending on if it is battery operated or not. The battery operated has a higher value.

If you can load a clearer picture of the other toys I will be happy to give you an estimated value.

I have what appears to be a candleholder/stand made of silver and what seems to be brass. very heavy - 5 parts held together by a central tube. This item has four different markings stamped into the base. From left to right in order. stamp no. 1 is an unidentified mark. I have no idea what it is, but it is fairly clear and sharp. stamp no. 2 is the word mauriatius inside an oval with a small crown over the word mauriatius. stamp no. 3 is the #84 inside a rectangle.Last is made in italy inside another rectangle. Strange thing is I can't seem to find anything similar in appearance. I also can't find any of the stamps on any other silver items on the net. some are close but lettering style is unique. And I can't find anything even remotely resembling the first mark at all. Help me out folks! If this is a significant item I'd like to see it in the proper hands. sincerely mike
