PLEASE HELP

hi , i have a doll very old she has B.N.D LONDON on the back of her neck

Submit your estimate of worth

Estimated Value submitted by AntiquesNavigator Staff

B.N.D. began making dolls in the 1930s and stands for British National Dolls. In the 1930s they made china headed dolls with composition bodies, which were similar to German and French bisque head dolls. In the 1940s they only made composition dolls. During the 1950s BND produced a wide range of hard plastic dolls and were producing vinyl headed dolls, with rooted hair on hard plastic bodies by the late 1950s. They went out of business shortly after that 1950s.

Unfortunately, only have the manufacturer doesn't really help in determining a price range. British National Dolls range in price from $25 dollars to $150+. Here's one that sold for $40 dollars:

Old Hickory dining table with 2 leaves, 4 chairs, good condition

Submitted by:
Main Image

PLEASE HELP

I am looking for a value on the Old Hickory dining set that I have. The table is rectangular, 29"x40" and has two 10" leaves. On the underside is stamped the Old Hickory Martinsville Indiana logo (oval shaped logo stamped in the wood) and the number 4080. The leaves both have a stamp that reads 65. I have four chairs, only one is an arm chair. They have woven backs and are all stamped with the Old Hickory Martinsville Indiana logo and the number 4050. They are all sturdy and usable with no obvious damage to the wood or woven backs. The table and chairs are in very good condition for furniture that likely dates to the first half of the 1900's and has been used until a few months ago. The table top shows expected signs of wear including some wear around the edges and a ring from a wet cup. The hardware appears all original right down to the lag bolts that hold the legs on the table which have a strange sized square head and primitive thread. I've had difficulty finding any other complete Old Hickory dining sets, particularly with a table this large. I would like to sell this set for a fair price in the near future.

1861 sterling rifle presentation cup or 1861 Civil War Victory cup???

Submitted by:

PLEASE HELP

The hallmarks read 1861, Sheffield, but I can't figure the Maker. The piece was purchased a few days ago at a silent auction at church. Now I am by far a Connoisseur of Artifacts from the Civil war, but this piece has all the bells and whistles..Richmond rifle Muskets, the Hallmarks indicate Sheffield, the make in 1961, not sure about the maker, can't seem to find his mark. I figure it was either a commissioned piece for the coming victory of the war..the chalice measures 8 inches tall, adorning the piece are laurels, roses, 3 muskets, the horn, pouch and drum..all elements of the American civil war, now I presume that possibly 3 sons went to war and none came back which would explain the empty spaces on all 3 cartouches? Well this is my theory, maybe I am way off, but any details regarding the piece would be appreciated.

Wow, that's a stunning chalice. Is it silver?

If your chalice is silver and from the civil war era, it might be worth in the $2000-3000 dollar range and would be very rare.

I've never seen a piece like yours, so I can't be sure of its origins, but it appears genuine to me.

Normandie Iridescent Bouquet & Lattice Glassware

Submitted by: Bonnie & Jonathan

PLEASE HELP

We have 26 pieces of Normandie Iridescent glassware that I found tucked away in a cupboard when I moved into my husband's home. It had not seen the light of day for many years and he had only a hunch that it had any value. I've researched the Depression-era glass and know that it was made from 1933 to 1939 by the Federal Glass Co. The iridescent was not as popular as the pink but it has a beautiful opalescence. Websites show wildly varied prices for the various pieces. We desire to sell it but have had no luck through more common sites. There are six 9" luncheon plates (these seem to be rare), two 6" sherbet/bread plates, two cup and saucer sets, four additional cups, five 5" berry bowls, four 6.5" cereal bowls, and one fruit bowl. The pieces have no apparent cracks or chips but they do have a coating of grime that came off of two pieces when I soaked them in vinegar. A popular website for completing partial tableware settings valued the pieces (in excellent condition) at $159.00. I cannot seem to get half that and intend to try and sell on your website.

Hi Bonnie & Jonathan,

Depression glass was very inexpensive when it was sold in the late 1920's to the early 1940's. In fact, sometimes companies would give it away for free to spark interest in their business.

As you've found out, the antique and collectible market is very soft right now. And the prices that dealers could easily obtain for antiques and collectibles a few years ago are now unattainable. I would value your depression glass in the $50-75 dollar range. Here's a similar set that sold for $46 dollars:

PLEASE HELP

Gold colored chain, chain looks like numerous strands of metal intwined to make it look like a mesh. It is circular. The pendent on the chain is go ld, silver, and a sort of other color that makes all together a swan. The pendent is hammered and is several medals together to make the design. the bottom of the pendent has small seed pearts hanging from it. I would say to me that it looks either victorian, or egyptian.

Hi Ron,

You don't mention the size of your Dunhill lighter, if its a standard size lighter its worth around $50-100 dollars. There are also jumbo table top lighters that sell for 2-3 times more.

Here's a page showing a wide assortment of similar Dunhill lighters and their pricing:

Hi Donald,

You have a very unique piece! I believe your bronze wall plaque is worth between $100-200 dollars.

Thanks for sharing!
