Moriyama

PLEASE HELP

I have a set of marked Moriyama handed painted what I think are vases but you can not open them. They have brass acorn on the top and they set on a ornate square base. The painting is of a woman in a pink dress and a guy playing a guitar. They have a long screw that goes all the way through them when you unscrew the top they come apart in section. Under the lid is stamped JAPAN in red under the bottom there is a stamp of a red flower basket with MORIYAMA over the top of it and JAPAN under it. They stand about 12 inches tall.

Hi Deanna,

Moriyama Pottery was established in 1911 by Hidekichi Nakamura.  There are still four studios operating, so your piece was made sometime between 1911 and today.  You read more about the Moriyama maker here:

http://www.gotheborg.com/marks/20thcenturyjapan.shtml

I would estimate the value of your Moriyama pottery to be around $50-75 dollars a piece.

I bought this from a lady who had a Trading Post. She told me it came from her Grandfathers estate. She was part Choctaw\Cherokee. It is old and sealed with a piece of wood tacked on the back. The color theme is sepia and I was able to identify the image as "The Horse Fair" Can someone give me an idea of its value as I have no clue. Thank You!

Estimated Value submitted by Tim

Hi Roberta,

It appears you have a reprint of the famous oil on canvas painting entitled,  \\\"The Horse Fair\\\" painted between 185355 by Rosa Bonheur (French, 18221899).

The original oil painting hangs in The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City:

http://www.metmuseum.org/collection/the-collection-online/search/435702

Here's a link to a similar print that was appraised by The Antiques Roadshow in 2012:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/season/17/rapid-city-sd/appraisals/rosa-bonheurs-the-horse-fair-print--201203A48

I'm not going to guess as the value of your print.  I think you might want to get a more professional appraisal completed.  I hope this information helps.

Hi, I have a few Disney comic books. A couple f them are from 1953, and I believe one of them is from 1949. Will send pics. They lose but complete and stored in a plastic sleeve. Can't remember wen or where I get them. I am editing this because I wanted to let you know that it is only letting me upload 1 photo. Hope it's enough

Estimated Value submitted by Bob

Comic book pricing is very dependent on condition.  The better the condition of the comic book, the higher the price.

Your Walt Disney Mickey Mouse comic books look pretty rough.  I would say they worth $3-6 each in their current condition.  In pristine condition, I've seen them sell in the $25 dollar range.

This is a painting on plaster of paris 5"X 6" circa 1905. It was bought from the daughter of the initial buyer. The piece is mounted and sealed inside 9X10 inch frame. I have not opened the frame as I thought to get more info about it first.

Estimated Value submitted by Kenny

Oil painting are usually priced based on the painter.  The most popular and sought after artists command premium pricing.  Do you know who's the artist of your oil painting?

Without knowing the artist's name, I would estimate your Mother and Child oil painting is worth $150-350 dollars.

Hi Michael,

Your Budweiser pool table light is highly collectible and is worth around $150-350 dollars.  However, I've seen them sell much lower.  Here's a similar Budweiser pool table light that sold for $60 dollars:
