"Underwood" Type Writer in "LBD BALL GLUB" box

Submitted by: Robert
Main Image

PLEASE HELP

I have in my possession as Underwood Typewriter. I know very little information about it other than it was given to my Aunt by my grandmother, who gave it to me on consignment. It is pretty well kept, although I do not know if it is in working condition, nor do I know how to figure out if it is in working condition. It is kept in (what looks like) an antique wooden leather box labeled "LBD BALL GLUB." I have a few pictures. Any and all information would be very helpful. I am think about also going to the Antique Roadshow in Cleveland, OH in July. Thanks and God Bless. -Rob Green

Crawford Grand Stove - Walker & Pratt Mfg. CO Patten 1888

Submitted by:
Main Image

PLEASE HELP

This stove is my Great Aunt and Uncle's - it was his grandmother's stove and has been passed down through the family. I'm just helping do research but the stove is located in East Hartford and probably came down from NH. This model has an oven that is slanted not square in shape. It was wood burning but has been converted several times and is now propane and does not burn wood anymore. Its in good condition except for the following things: 1. The mantle back and main top shelf is from a different design than the main body of the stove - they were purchased separately and maybe several years apart. 2. It's missing the oven self in the front and it was broken off so the pegs are missing that holds it on. 3. The oven bricks and wood grate/shaker are also missing. 4. There is a little bit of rusting in the internal areas of the stove. It has the markings E. G. H. C. 7-18 8-18 and The grate is the 3rd pattern based on a 1926 Weaverly repair guide I found online. Patten date: Aug. 7, 1888 We think it was made shortly after that but we know it was made for sure between 1888-1923 Thanks, Heather More Pictures: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ywktjYeO98pxYM5L6j3cLtgC-t22YTMtd4lZT63hhyc/edit?usp=sharing You should have access to this if you have a gmail account but if needed, click on it and request permission since I don't have your email address to add it to share the file with you.

solid wood, gold gilt horses

PLEASE HELP

Hello! These figurines are solid wood with much detail. I'm not sure if it is actually gold gilt. There seems to be more than one metal and perhaps more than one kind of wood. I think they are of Chinese origin??? Any information would be much appreciated!!!

Submit your estimate of worth

Estimated Value submitted by Tim

Hi Rarer,

Your horse statues are made of brass, copper and bone inlays and is between $40-90 dollars each.  Here's one that sold recently in that price range:

http://content.antiquesnavigator.com/index.php?main_page=documents&content=search&s=Antique+Carved+Wood+HORSE+Figurine+Statue&c=&Search=Submit

I'm not sure where they are made, but they are fairly common, so they might be of recent manufacture, perhaps India or China.

Unique Cast Iron Frog

Submitted by:
Main Image

PLEASE HELP

I am unable to find any other pieces like mine, no matter what keywords I use in searches, which makes it very difficult to get any kind of value. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is a cast iron frog connected to a decorative cast iron base. It's connected by a strip of metal that allows the frog to "bounce". He is wearing some sort of coat that is painted in bright colors, and the paint appears to be original. He stands about 8 inches tall. I have looked all over for any markings and cannot find any.

Submit your estimate of worth

Estimated Value submitted by Tim

That is a very unusual cast iron frog figurine. Maybe its a paperweight or just a home decoration. It looks pretty old to me and it seems rare since I can't find anything like it either. However, frog figurines only sell for so much and I would guess its value at around $40-90 dollars and I think $60 dollars would be fair. Very old victorian frog cast iron garden statues can see for around $300 dollars, but they look nothing like your frog. I don't think its that's old. I have no clue what's up with the pants and vest, maybe he's a circus frog?

Estimated Value submitted by Bob

Hi Amy,

How do you know its from the Thirteenth century?  If it really is that old, it belongs in museum and would be priceless.  A priceless antique is basically worth anything a collector is willing to pay.

This antique, if authentic is probably best left to the professionals to appraise.

Marilyn Monroe

Submitted by: Sherry

PLEASE HELP

I have a penciled Marilyn Monroe done on like a brown type canvas paper. There are no numbers on the bottom of it, like what the reproductions have. This one only is signed "Lanse" and I bought it at an estate sale of an elderly couple. I am wondering, would this be an original and if it is how much would it be worth? A friend of mine wants to buy it from me for 150.00, but if it is an original, I would believe it is much more than that because she said, I will pay you 300, but not over a thousand for it. It was in like a silver type frame, but my husband accidently dropped it. Nothing happened to the picture, but the glass and frame did end up being trashed.
