I must show some thanks to this wrtier just for rescuing me from this type of incident. As a result of exploring through the online world and coming across ideas that were not beneficial, I was thinking my life was over. Living devoid of the approaches to the problems you have solved all through your entire article is a serious case, as well as ones that would have in a negative way affected my career if I hadn't discovered your web blog. Your main talents and kindness in taking care of the whole thing was very useful. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't come upon such a stuff like this. I'm able to at this moment look forward to my future. Thanks so much for the professional and sensible help. I will not hesitate to endorse your blog to anyone who wants and needs tips about this subject matter. |

Well, technically, no it's not an antique (it has to be 100yrs old or older) but its definitely a very cool collectible. Your easy bake oven isn't worth very much, between $15-35 dollars. Original 1972 easy bake oven sold for $37 dollars 1969 easy bake oven sold for $34.51 1988 Easy Bake Oven sold for $16.50 Thanks for sharing! |

CredenzaSubmitted by: Mindrey |
|
PLEASE HELPThis piece is 24 width x 55 length x 30.5 high. This credenza has drawers that fit hanging file folders perfectly. As far as I can tell, there are no markings identifying it. The only thing I could find was a metal tag that had been taped to the inside of a drawer – whether it belongs with it or not, I don’t know. I also took a picture of the fittings inside of the drawer and a portion of the design on the top of the credenza in case it helps identify it. I know no history behind it. I would just like to know an approximate value of this piece. Submit your estimate of worth |

Hi Mindrey,
What you have is an office filing cabinet. The third picture shows the company asset tags to track capital expenditures. Filing cabinets of this size sell for $600-800 dollars new. I would say your filing cabinet is worth $300-400 dollars. |
Trosby CabinetsSubmitted by: Mindrey |
|
PLEASE HELPThis piece is 27 length x 18.5 width x 77.5 height. I have a pair of these cabinets. One of them has a crack in one of the panes of glass. The top section comes apart from the base, but can be re-attached with a strip of metal that screws into both the top and bottom sections on two ends on the back. In the base, there is a label attached to the inside of the drawer that says ‘Handcrafted in England by Trosby London and Atlanta.’ Inside, the shelves are held in place with strips of wood that fits into a zig zag pattern inside the cabinet. Also, the cabinet shown has glass shelves, but I think this piece may have originally had wood shelves because in the second cabinet, I have glass shelves and one wood shelf. I know no history behind it. I would just like to know an approximate value of this piece. Submit your estimate of worth |
Pollard Glass Top CounterSubmitted by: Mindrey |
|
PLEASE HELPThis piece is 117 length x 25 width x 36 height. This display counter is quite a long piece. I’ve taken pictures of the front and back of this piece. Inside the glass display case (of which I have replaced the top glass with a piece of glass that was less scratched) there is a label indicating that it was manufactured by Pollards and it has a number of Patent numbers indicated. On the back of this piece, there are a number of drawers – some of which I think may be missing. Some of the drawers are wobbly when pulling them out. I also took a picture of one of the drawer handles – this particular handle has ‘Pollards & Co, London’ stamped into the brass. I don’t know any history behind this piece. I would just like to know an approximate value of this piece. Submit your estimate of worth |

Mansfeld Display CaseSubmitted by: Mindrey |
|
PLEASE HELPThis piece is 72" length x 96" height x 19" width at base (12" width at top section. This display case was used in my store to display wine glasses. The lights are not original – I installed those. However, there are holes on the back and top panel that appears to accommodate lighting. The top section holds a glass shelf and the bottom section has sliding glass doors – included is a small block of wood (see picture) that appears to stop the doors from sliding all the way if slid too far. Both doors are on separate tracks so that they both can slide all the way across the case. Also, inside the bottom section, there is an additional glass shelf installed inside. On the front of the case, there is a label that says ‘Quality Equipment, R. Mansfeld & Son, Incorporated, Louisville, KY; “The Best that Man Can Build”.’ Other than that, I don’t know any history behind it. I would just like to know an approximate value of this piece. Antique Stock Broker TableSubmitted by: Mainstreet |
|
PLEASE HELPThis piece is 68 inches high x 55 inches in diameter. I am told that it is an antique stock broker table. Other than that, I don’t know too much else about this piece. I don’t know how much it weighs, but it is an extremely heavy piece that is divided into 4 sections all the way around. Under each section in the base, there are also doors that open up to reveal more storage space. Each top section has a plaque attached – pictures are attached of each plaque. Also, there are wheels attached to the bottom of the table that allow it to roll. I would just like to know an approximate value of this piece. Submit your estimate of worth |

Hi Jack,
You're right, your great grandfather's chairs are worth somewhere between $5 and $500 dollars :) The true value of your great grandfathers chairs lie in their historical value. There are a lot of collectors out there looking for true american folk art and your great grandfathers chair are terrific examples! I would think you could easily get $30-50 dollars each, so their total value is around $120-200 dollars. Thanks for sharing and your great grandfather was a great carpenter!! |

Antique pump organSubmitted by: Abbey |

PLEASE HELPThe only identifying info I could find is as follows: The Carpenter, Co. Brattleboro, VT, USA Baldwin & Gleason (or Sleason, it was somewhat indecipherable) LTD, NY It has about a dozen original hymnals A mirror and two original candle holders. It is in fantastic condition with the original finish. The only wear is on the pedals. I can get a photo but I don't have it right now. Thank you so much for your time. I need to know if it's worth more as sentimental value or if it could bring a good price for my grandparents long term nursing care. Thanks again, Abbey Tanner Submit your estimate of worth |

Hi Abbey,
Unfortunately, I don't think your pump organ will provide much long term nursing care. Although, they can sell for as high as $1500-1800 dollars, they are difficult to find a buyer in that price range. More typical selling prices are in the range of $200-400 dollars. Either way, when it comes to nursing care, that's not a lot of money! Thanks for sharing and good luck with finding your grandparents good adult care. I'm sure that can be difficult. |

Antique Wood CarvingSubmitted by: Julie |

PLEASE HELPGreetings, I'm a reseller and I came upon this carving while out picking. What I can tell you is that it appears asian in the face, however, the woman is nude from the waist up which seems more tribal. There is gold paint under the black, so some idiot painted it. The head of the wife and the paddle are gone. Generally, I would have passed it by, but the carving on the bottom is what made me get it. I've actually never seen a piece with a carving on the bottom with the exception of a scrimshaw, however, this seems entirely too large and should it be a scrimshaw, what on earth would they use it for? It's about 10" wide and 12" tall. I'm absolutely fascinated by it, and would appreciate any help I can get. I've done research and found absolutely nothing. Picture to follow. Thanks. antique(?) engraved GOYA braceletSubmitted by: Beth |
|
PLEASE HELPTim, picked this up an estate sale. Interesting!!! Maybe made of brass (?). It was so dark when I purchased it I had no idea what the engraved scenes were. I buffed it lightly with Simichrome and discovered very finely engraved scenes of Renaissance life. Gentlemen & ladies in period dress, etc. 4 links-4 scenes. Each end of the bracelet has an engraving of an artist's palette with 2 paint brushes laying across the top. A charm dangles from one end with an engraved portrait and name of GOYA. No other markings nor date that I can find. I have researched Francsico de Goya and confirmed this is his likeness in later years. I can find no indication of jewelry accredited to him. Just engravings. I am attaching pictures of the bracelet. If you could give me any indication what you think this might be, I'd appreciate your time. Awaiting your response. Roman Gladiator RingSubmitted by: Brian |
|
PLEASE HELPHello, I recently purchased a Roman Gladiator ring off of ebay and am trying to further verify the authenticity of the ring, the value of the ring and the date if too possible! The Certificate Of Authenticity they sent me seemed as nothing more than a fancy receipt and that is why im seeking further information on the item! Here is the Ebay posting they had placed from ebay dealer Cameleoncoins: Roman bronze Gladiator ring with a large depiction of Sol Invictus (the Roman sun god) on the Bezel, for protection in the arena and 12 kill marks etched by the gladiator beneath the bezel to commemorate each kill. The very center of the ring has a star-burst symbol. This is one of the several variations which depicts Sol Invictus, the sun god. The diamond shaped image surrounding Sol Invictus, represents the arena. Just outside of the arena, there are a series of lines surrounding the arena which represent palm leaves. Palm leaves and olive branches were symbols commonly used to represent brotherhood between Gladiators and Soldiers. Gladiators would traditionally place their kill marks on one of three places on the ring. Downward markings on the band, such as the markings on this ring, lines across the width of the band, the top of the bezel, and the third place was beneath the bezel. Gladiator rings of this high grade and preservation, and with kill marks, are becoming very difficult to obtain Your help in this matter would be very much appreciated, thank you very much, Brian Walker Submit your estimate of worth |

Hi Brian,
That's nice roman artifact. Although, it appears to be from the correct area judging from the appearance of the patina, I highly doubt it belonged to a gladiator. Gladiators were slaves in Roman times and most likely didn't own many possessions. I would value your roman ring around $50-75 dollars and would place its date of manufacture around 100 A.D. |

Your indian relic appears to be a scraper.
Indian stone relics If authentic, it would be worth anywhere from $100-500 dollars. There are modern flint knappers, so fakes do exist. Where did you get it? If you found it yourself, its more likely to be a real indian artifact. Indians made these stone tools as long ago as 30,000 years and as recently has 200-300 hundred years ago, well technically they might still make then :) If real, you have a beautiful indian relic. I've always wanted to find one, but never have. Thanks for sharing. |
18th or 19th century dresser/chest of drawersSubmitted by: Jonathan |
|
PLEASE HELPPlease Help! I have a dresser or chest of drawers, that I think may have been made in the late 18th or early 19th century but Im not sure. The back left foot has been replaced and it has some knics missing on the veneer and the top piece is missing (the smaller drawers that set on top of dresser). It shows alot of wear inside the grooves along side the drawer railing. If you know the maker or the time period it was made and the value in its condition now and possibly restored, please let me know. Thank you very much, you all do such a great job! Hi Jonathan,
Your low or chest of drawings is most likely from the 1920's. I would estimate its value in its current condition to be between $100-$200 dollars. Fully restored, you're looking at $500-600 dollars. Thanks for the submission! |

Antique Metal Cup -- Greek SoldiersSubmitted by: Kierstin |
|
PLEASE HELPHello I found a metal cup, that I believed to be pewter, while living in England 15 years ago, at a church rummage sale. A few years later when I began to clean the cup, the middle revealed itself to be silver {I have a lot of silver jewelry}. On one side of the 'cup' there is a Greek {I think} soldier profile including his helmet, then on the opposite side there is another Greek soldier, this time with a soldiers helmet with the {broom} adornment. There appears to me two seams on the section that it silver & the metal is most certainly different. It looks as though the 2 pieces of silver were press-rolled over a template, then inlayed on the cup, resting upon a decorative lip in the cup. There is a large raised makers mark {I think that is what it is} on the base, but I have been unable to even identify what this "cup" was even made for, forget the mark. There are marks inside which indicate a lathe rather than a mold, but I am clueless; can you help me? I have included the photos I have taken, if there are any other question you have please contact me. Thank you Kierstin Young Submit your estimate of worth |

Wow, that's a very unusual find. I've never seen one like it.
The machining marks might indicate it's hand made, but who knows. I would estimate the value of the cup around $100 dollars, but in today's market it might only fetch $40-$50 dollars. It's a great piece, I would hang on to it. Very unique. |

Great grandmother's serving platterSubmitted by: Cobi |

PLEASE HELPI have a serving platter that belonged to my great, great grandmother. The platter is well over 100 years old, however, I know nothing about its origin or value--other than my family lived in Georgia and Tennessee. There is a "makers mark" of some kind on the back but it cannot be read. Where do I start?? Submit your estimate of worth |

I'm sure the maker, I can't seem to find the exact pattern. Your great, great grandmother's platter might be copeland spode. Here's some example of similar pieces that have sold:

Without seeing the makers mark, a fair appraisal can not be made. A previous reader referred to Copeland/Spode. The Spode family worked in pottery in Staffordshire (England) as early as 1762. Three generations of the Spode family operated in Stoke-upon-Trent and the company continued on the same site for nearly 250 years. n 1867 the company's official trade name was changed to WT Copeland and Sons, only reverting back to Spode in 1970. Specific marks were used during specific years by many of the great china/procelain makers. The porcelain and china makers kept meticulous records that are available to us today, and are used in dating a specific piece. Please provide a photo of the makers mark. |
