BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Antient Roman Legionary clay brick with a soldier`s left footprint, wearing the typical sandals with nailed soles Original stamp: LEG I...[ADPF] DIMENSIONS: 42cm x 36cm x 5cm (16" x 14" x 2") WEIGHT: 10 kg (22 lb) HISTORY OF THE ITEM: The Romans made fired clay bricks, and the Roman legions, which operated mobile kilns, introduced bricks to many parts of the empire. Roman bricks are often stamped with the mark of the legion that supervised their production. LEGIO I ADIUTRIX PIA FIDELIS Following the murder of Roman Emperor Domitian in 96, LEG I Adiutrix, along with the Danubian army, played an important role in Roman politics, forcing Epmeror Nerva to adopt Trajan as his successor. When Trajan became emperor, he gave the legion the cognomen Pia Fidelis ("loyal and faithful") to acknowledge their support. Between 101 and 106, under the new emperor's command, I Adiutrix, along with IV Flavia Felix and XIII Gemina, conquered Dacia and occupied the newly formed province. Trajan also used his Pia Fidelis in the campaign against Parthia (115–117). In the history of ancient Rome only 8 Roman Legions received the honorary title Pia Fidelis. The clay bricks prduced by the distinguished legions included the abbreviation "PF" or "P.F." right after the name and number of the legion - i.e. LEGIADPF. POSSIBLE DATE OF MANUFACTURE: 1st Century C.E. PROVENANCE: German private collection CURRENT LOCATION: Since the late 1950's the item is located in Dortmund, Germany.

The front piece however looks like was replacement and cracked at front right corner, there is register tape on side enclosed and under front ornate lid is counter etc...see pictures . Very heavy. Green tarnish. Needs cleaning restoration.

Hi Pepper, Your National Cash Register is valued between $600 to $1100. To get the most out of it I suggest having it cleaned by a professional. One that had been fully restored sold in 2011 for $950. Another that was just cleaned but did work sold in 2013 for $233. From your description I think yours is a better cash register. We did not receive any pictures. Hope this helps, Thanks,

Moriyama

PLEASE HELP

I have a set of marked Moriyama handed painted what I think are vases but you can not open them. They have brass acorn on the top and they set on a ornate square base. The painting is of a woman in a pink dress and a guy playing a guitar. They have a long screw that goes all the way through them when you unscrew the top they come apart in section. Under the lid is stamped JAPAN in red under the bottom there is a stamp of a red flower basket with MORIYAMA over the top of it and JAPAN under it. They stand about 12 inches tall.

Estimated Value submitted by Tim

Hi Deanna,

Moriyama Pottery was established in 1911 by Hidekichi Nakamura.  There are still four studios operating, so your piece was made sometime between 1911 and today.  You read more about the Moriyama maker here:

http://www.gotheborg.com/marks/20thcenturyjapan.shtml

I would estimate the value of your Moriyama pottery to be around $50-75 dollars a piece.

I bought this from a lady who had a Trading Post. She told me it came from her Grandfathers estate. She was part Choctaw\Cherokee. It is old and sealed with a piece of wood tacked on the back. The color theme is sepia and I was able to identify the image as "The Horse Fair" Can someone give me an idea of its value as I have no clue. Thank You!

Estimated Value submitted by Tim

Hi Roberta,

It appears you have a reprint of the famous oil on canvas painting entitled,  \\\"The Horse Fair\\\" painted between 1853–55 by Rosa Bonheur (French, 1822–1899).

The original oil painting hangs in The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City:

http://www.metmuseum.org/collection/the-collection-online/search/435702

Here's a link to a similar print that was appraised by The Antiques Roadshow in 2012:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/season/17/rapid-city-sd/appraisals/rosa-bonheurs-the-horse-fair-print--201203A48

I'm not going to guess as the value of your print.  I think you might want to get a more professional appraisal completed.  I hope this information helps.

Hi Barbie, Your Duverdey and Bolquel carriage clock is estimated between $65 to $130. Without seeing a picture of the clock this is the best estimate I can give. One sold in 2011 for $121 another in 2012 for $62.56 and in 2013 for $72.55. All were in good shape so not having the key may bring this price down. Thanks,

Can't remember wen or where I get them. I am editing this because I wanted to let you know that it is only letting me upload 1 photo. Hope it's enough

Estimated Value submitted by Bob

Comic book pricing is very dependent on condition.  The better the condition of the comic book, the higher the price.

Your Walt Disney Mickey Mouse comic books look pretty rough.  I would say they worth $3-6 each in their current condition.  In pristine condition, I've seen them sell in the $25 dollar range.
