Very Realistic Original Pencil Sketch Drawing of Marilyn Monroe, Signed by G.Noble 1976

Submitted by:
Main Image

PLEASE HELP

Whoever G.Noble is, he or she certainly did a fantastic job with this pencil drawing depicting the ever glamorous Hollywood starlet Marilyn Monroe. This is a vintage piece (obviously) and has a stain (as shown in the photo), which I am not sure whether it can or cannot be corrected. Nevertheless it is an impressive portrait (at least to me :)) as I see that the facial features are well proportioned. Description: Pencil art drawing-celebrity portrait Signed by G.Noble Dated 1976 Size: Paper: 10.5" X 13.5" Matte Size: 17.5" X 20.5"

G. Noble isn't a well known artist, but his art work is certainly good. I would give your pencil sketch drawing of Marilyn Monroe a value of $100-200 dollars.

Unusual RARE Antique Group Portrait Postcard of Soldiers Signed Goarg? Stark, Germany 1936 Here is an interesting looking original photo portrait postcard written in German and dated 1936. Unfortunately, I cannot read German but there is definitely something that draws me to this photo and especially the middle figure. Obviously, there are two soldiers in the photo, who perhaps are relatives of the older gentleman. Perhaps the written content of the postcard reveals something about the story. Am not sure whether the signed name is Geoarg or Goarg. Overall, the postcard is in fairly good condition. The postal stamp and some of the text from the back of the photo were applied with enough force, so that they do show up partially on the image (bottom left and right hand). Also, there are a few small stains on the back and the edges of the paper show minor wear. Dimensions: 5.4" X 3.4" (13.7 cm X 8.7 cm) Colour of photo: Sepia

Violinist figure made in Japan

Submitted by:
Main Image

PLEASE HELP

This is a figure mounted on a cross section of a tree branch with a Japanese character painted on it. The figure is made of fabric, stuffing and what appears to be stiff wire inside, and has a painted face. The figure is playing a violin and looks like it is supposed to be a gypsy or Italian figure, although the figure has a tag on it that indicates it was made in Japan. The figure is about 5-6 inches tall. He is wearing a knit green cap with a white pompon, has black velvet pants and a printed tunic over a formal white shirt with a bead for a cufflink on each sleeve. The tunic has a fringe. The violin and bow are made of wood and the strings on the bow and violin seem to be made of single threads. The figure has a nose and ears that are glued to the face, although the rest of the face is painted. It has brown eyes and a brown fringe made of threads for hair sticking out from under the cap. He is barefoot. He seems to be being held together with stitching and with glue. He is not poseable, but is posed as if playing his instrument. There is a gold colored, printed and embossed tag around his neck that looks like a Japanese child holding a gold-colored disk, although you can only see the head, eyes, hands and feet of the child, as the rest (the gold disk) is part of the tag. The tag says something like "The Original Shibateh" although the stamp is blurry so the H's could be M's, N's or some combination. The bottom of the tag says "Handicrafted (sic) in Japan". There is also a stylized Japanese logo in the center of the tag that looks like Fi with the F trisected. The reverse side of the tag reads "This seal guarantees Top Quality and Workmanship Beware of Imitations!" The bottom of the figure also has a gold embossed tag that is hard to read. It has the stylized Japanese logo on it, with a sentence in Japanese characters underneath. Below that is something that appears to say "FUTABA DOLLATELIER KOCHI". I think this item was purchased in the 1960's. I tried to search online for information about this item but had no luck. Any info is greatly appreciated! ALSO: Any estimates of worth and where to sell it?

German, Meissen Porcelain Centerpiece, Dot Period

Submitted by: Shawn
Main Image

PLEASE HELP

I have recently acquired this beautiful German porcelain centerpiece. It is a pierced oval basket supported by a base of two cherub/putto seated on a rock out crop. The female has a woven basket of flowers on her lap. The piece is hand painted and gilded. The total Height is 12 3/4". The condition is as follows; a wing is missing from one putti, very small chips on a few of the outer flowers, and a repair on the base about the size of a dime, otherwise the piece is in good shape. The mark is a blue cross sword with a dot between the handles. There is an incised mark on the base 7533. The basket also has an incised mark but it is not as clear and I believe it might be JSG.373 or JSC.313. Any information on this piece would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

antique metal baby cradle

Submitted by: Anne

PLEASE HELP

I have an old antique metal rocking baby cradle and would like to have an idea as to what it is worth if anything. Very sturdy with cast iron scrolled footings. The rocking basket is made of a heavy-duty wire in a very nice lattice design. Same Lattice design in on the bottom attached to the legs. There is a metal pole attached which was used for either a mobile or netting to protect baby. The top of the cradle basket measures 37 3/4" length, 20" width, 14 1/2 " depth. It tapers slightly to the bottom of the basket to 33 3/4" length, 16 1/2" width. From floor to top of mobile pole measures 53 1/2 " and the total width from footing to footing is 40". Thanks kindly, Anne Neufeld

Hand crafted figurine pair

PLEASE HELP

I have a set of figurines, both separate; a little boy wearing a green hat and a little girl with braids. Both are barefoot and eyes closed, each with a cat, leaning toward each other for a kiss. The kitten with the boy is stretched toward the kitten with the girl like it is leaning in for a kiss as well. The boy is holding a bouquet of flowers behind his back. The girl is clasping her hands. The pair was given to me in the 1980s and I was told they were Hummels. While they appear to have similarities to Hummel figurines such as coloring, the boy's hat and general material (not glossy)After much research, I don't believe they are Hummels but would like to know if anyone can identify them. They are marked on the bottom with 176, an R under a design of sorts and an N in a square. They also say genuine porcelain decorated by hand

Hi Diane,

Unfortunately, there's not a real big market for antique or vintage ice crushers. The patent was issued in 1944, but it appears to be a appliance from the 1950's. Here's the first page of the patent:

Your ice-o-matic is worth $20-30 dollars and that might be in the upper range of its value.

I've purchased searevl books on Amazon.com and while a lot of them were very good, I've never felt compelled to write a review. Then I purchased and read How to Sell Antiques and Collectibles on eBay And Make a Fortune! by Lynn Dralle and Dennis Prince. This book is FANTASTIC!!! I had started an eBay business from home a few months before buying the book and was filled with questions this book answered them all! It covers everything from how to set up your home office to choosing a business name & business plan to how much to spend at Garage Sales, etc. It is filled with amazing tips and tricks (for instance, Lynn gives you a website that helps you identify almost any china pattern which is invaluable when researching your item to post on ebay). Not only is the book overwhelmingly thorough, but Ms. Dralle also includes her email address just in case you have further questions. You're probably wondering if she would actually respond to your emails and the answer is, YES! I was having a problem with one of my customers and I wasn't quite sure how to handle it, so after much deliberation I decided to email Lynn. In less than 24 hours I received a response to my email with some very good advice which I promptly followed. I can honestly say that her advice was right on target! It worked perfectly and the customer gave me excellent feedback! So in short, if you are considering selling antiques and collectibles on eBay, this book is a must-have!!!
