|
Hi William, Your Cambridge Blue Flow Gravy Boat is estimated between $17 to $25. The words you can not read are most likely by Alfred Meakin, England, ca. 1891 or A. Meakin, England. The value has came down quite a lot since 2007. In 2007 one with the platter sold for $130. I have not seen one with a number written in gold. This could bring the value up. Thanks, |

DRESSING TABLE by Brough Bros Cabinet Makers LiverpoolSubmitted by: |
|
PLEASE HELPWe picked this item up at a storage unit auction and knew it was special when we discovered each drawer was specifically marked to coincide with marks on the interior of the drawer slots. We found the maker badge on the interior of one of the drawers and it read - 'Brough Bros Cabinet Makers & Upholsterers London Rd - Liverpool Telephone No 2034 Royal'. In our search on the internet we didn't find anything currently being sold and the only mention of Brough Bros was a chair found on worthpoint.com which sold several years back for approx. $120us. The dressing table measures 42 1/2" wide x 19" deep x 60" tall and is inlaid on all drawer face edges as well as all top surface edges. The hardware appears to be all original and is only missing a small cap on the finial to the left of the mirror. Any information you can provide would be very helpful! Display cabinet 1870 s eraSubmitted by: Maureen |

PLEASE HELPHello. I have just inherited a china cabinet/ display cabinet from my late mother.. Her grandmother travelled from Guernsey in 1874 to New Zealand on the Edwin Fox ship, with her parents. They bought the China cabinet with them. I'm trying to find some information about it. The glass is intact, has some leadlighting on it, and has the original key with it ,. Has one opening door, three glass panels across the front and glass panels on the sides and has 6 legs. Is in good condition. I don't know anything about antiques. May some one could give me some info. Submit your estimate of worth |

Hi Maureen, I estimate your antique china cabinet from the 1870's is worth around $2000-2500 dollars. With such a expensive antique, I would suggest having a antique store owner come look at it and give you 2nd opinion. He/she might also help you sell it by putting it on consignment. |

Hi Jay, I believe your antique 60lb folding boat anchor is worth between $200-500 dollars. I know that's a large range, but I'm not familiar enough with antique boat anchors to narrow it down more. However, there is definitely a market for these anchors and command premium prices. Here's a similar one currently for sale for $325 dollars: http://www.unclehenrys.com/classified/4469312 Here's a page with a number of antique boat anchors for sale: http://sailorman.com/categories/consignment-listings/anchors/ |

Hi Jay, Most of the large cast iron anchors bring between $150 to $200. If yours is solid brass or bronze you could get as high as $750, both of these metals contain copper. You might consider polishing it some and verify if it is brass. Hope this helps, |
My Grandfather's desk lampSubmitted by: |
|
PLEASE HELPThis little lamp belonged to my Grandfather who passed away in April 1952. I was told that it sat on his desk for many years. I haven't been able to identify its' maker or value (if any). There are no chips or cracks. It has a very old electrical cord that I believe is the original. The last time I plugged it in, it worked. The base is made of some sort of metal and is heavy. Any help or thoughts are appreciated. Thank you! Submit your estimate of worth |

I estimate that your grandfather's lamp is worth around $20-40 dollars. It sounds like the base is made of cast iron and appears to be painted. Here's a similar lamp that sold for $10 dollars: http://www.antiquesnavigator.com/d-1995288/antique-vintage-cast-iron-lamp.html |

|
PLEASE HELPI have a karpen chair, I've seen pictures of similar items but not the exact same one. I've read on different websites about the chairs being worth up to 2,000. And on ebay they are expensive. Any idea of the value on a bulky cloth n wooden chair? Submit your estimate of worth |
|
Estimated Value submitted by Kenny |
|
Hi Tara, I don't think your antique karpen chair is worth anywhere near $2000 dollars. I would think the $200-300 dollar range would probably be more appropriate, but that's just my opinion. Condition is king in the antique world and your chair looks pretty rough and needs reconditioning. It also appears to be missing a part on the right arm rest at the top. A carpenter could make the part using the other side as a template and a wood lathe, but I doubt it would be inexpensive part to make. |

Swan VaseSubmitted by: Lori |

PLEASE HELPSubmit your estimate of worth |

Estimated Value submitted by Becky |
|
Hi Lori, Your Swan Vase by McCoy pottery is estimated between $10 to $25. If you can verify this piece is not a reproduction you would defiantly get more. This piece is reproduced by many different companies. The McCoy trademark was applied for from three individuals in different years all three application were either abandoned or canceled. So no one owns the trademark. I do know that the original swan vase was 9 inches tall. Non-authentic pieces are typically smaller than the original due to the fact that reproduction makers use an original piece to form the mold from which the reproductions are made. Most of what I see now are larger than 9 inches. People are always coming up with new ways to reproduce originals. Hope you have an original. Thanks, |

Antique door/cabinet lockSubmitted by: Anthony |
|
PLEASE HELPI don't know what this door lock was originally used for. It is metal and brass measuring 4 1/4" wide, 3 1/2" tall with a depth of about 3/4". It appears to be in perfect working condition as the handle will lock with the small knob next to it. Futhermore, there is also another locking bar down the left hand side whereby you can lock the bar in place. The emblem has "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE" and underneath is says "DIEU ET MON DROIT". I am an ex Household Cavalry Trooper so of course I am familiar with the terms which mean "Evil Be to Those That Evil Do" and "God and My Right". Any advice would be really helpful. Thank you!
