PLEASE HELP

Hello

I found a metal cup, that I believed to be pewter, while living in England 15 years ago, at a church rummage sale. A few years later when I began to clean the cup, the middle revealed itself to be silver {I have a lot of silver jewelry}. On one side of the 'cup' there is a Greek {I think} soldier profile including his helmet, then on the opposite side there is another Greek soldier, this time with a soldiers helmet with the {broom} adornment. There appears to me two seams on the section that it silver & the metal is most certainly different. It looks as though the 2 pieces of silver were press-rolled over a template, then inlayed on the cup, resting upon a decorative lip in the cup.

There is a large raised makers mark {I think that is what it is} on the base, but I have been unable to even identify what this "cup" was even made for, forget the mark.

There are marks inside which indicate a lathe rather than a mold, but I am clueless; can you help me?

I have included the photos I have taken, if there are any other question you have please contact me.

Thank you

Kierstin Young

Wow, that's a very unusual find. I've never seen one like it.

The machining marks might indicate it's hand made, but who knows. I would estimate the value of the cup around $100 dollars, but in today's market it might only fetch $40-$50 dollars.

It's a great piece, I would hang on to it. Very unique.
