Rosenthal 3pcs Tea cup & saucer & dessert plate Black with Silver overlay

Submitted by:
Main Image

PLEASE HELP

I have a tea cup saucer and dessert plate that is black with an intricate sliver overlay with a handpainted floral design. This is a stunning set in excellent condition with a small spot on the tea cup handle where the silver is missing. This has the makers mark that indicates it was made in 1936. It also says Elite on the bottom of the cup and saucer but not the dessert plate. I can not find this set anywhere. There is a piece on ebay that is a covered dish with the same black porcelain and intricate silver overlay but no flowers for 350.00 and there is two ginger jars with a similar pattern of floral design with intricate silver overlay but the jars are an ivory porcelain and they are asking about 1200.00 for the set. I believe this set is very rare. Please help.

PLEASE HELP

It is made of glass and measures 28". There are no signs of wear and it is in pristine condition. This is a big bottle which I believed is used like a store display. From what I know as well that this was only sold in the company store that can only be bought by employees between the '80s early '90s. This was made by the Beaumont Glass Co and they are no longer in business.

You have a reproduction of a rare Hutchinson Coke bottle with Coca-Cola in script.  The layout of the lettering is higher on the reproduction than the original and the lettering is also larger.

http://www.antiquebottles.com/coke/fame.html

Your reproduction coca cola bottle is worth between $1-20 dollars:

I have a portable record player that works. It turn's, and plays music. Everything is intact. There is a slight hum sound you hear shortly after turning it on. Again its a Zenith, The model is BP 8-L. its 60 cyle, 45 Watts, and the Volts 117 AC. a similiar one can be found here http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=250215 does anyone know what it's worth?

Submit your estimate of worth

Estimated Value submitted by Tim

Hi Rose,

Your 1958 Zenith portable record player is worth around $25-50 dollars, but it might be hard to find a buyer.  Record players from this era are fairly common and there isn't a huge market for them.

Always be careful plugging in vintage electronics, they didn't have the same UL (safety) codes back then and certain electrical components only last so long (capacitors).  Also, the insulation around wiring becomes dry rotted with age and doesn't provide the same level of insulation it once did.

PLEASE HELP

I have a relief carved teak jewelry box that was brought back from Amoy, China in 1902 by a relative who was the Vice Consul there at the time. It has remained in my family ever since. It is lined with red velvet, and has a lift-out tray, also lined in red velvet. There is some Chinese writing on the outer box it came in, and also some writing on the bottom of the box itself. I have had no luck translating the writing. The dimensions are 4 3/4" x 5" x 8 3/4". It is in good condition, there is some wear and tear.

Porcelain doll

Submitted by:
Main Image

PLEASE HELP

I do not have very much information on this doll. It was given to me when I was younger. The lady told me it was around 100 years old and that was about 12 years ago. I have not found any thing similar to it online and there are no visible marking on it. It has a porcelain head and hands, the feet are hard however covered in material. The dress does not have any valcro or buttons, it is sewn shut at the back. The body is soft, I'm not sure what it would be made of. There is no cracks or scratches in the doll however the high chair that the doll sits on looks like it may have been refinished or not original. The tray that sits on top looks older or possibly just not refinished.

Nippon hand painted dessert plate

Submitted by: Susan

PLEASE HELP

I just received five dessert plates that say Nippon with some kind of logo that looks like a leaf above it, and the words Hand Painted to the right of it. They look to be dessert plates and are gold rimmed with a pink rose design. Wondering how much they could be worth, and if they are really Nippon.

Submit your estimate of worth

Estimated Value submitted by Tim

Antique Nippon porcelain is very collectible but there are many fakes out there.  Here's a great page explaining how to help identify modern Nippon porcelain:

http://reviews.ebay.com/HOW-TO-TELL-FAKE-NIPPON-PORCELAIN-FROM-AUTHENTIC-NIPPON?ugid=10000000001250317

The modern Nippon producers have been making fakes since the 1970s, so even modern Nippon porcelain can be 30-40 years old.  You seem to have the \\\"Maple Leaf Nippon" mark which dates back to 1891 and was usually found in green, blue or magenta.  The original antique markers marked was normally around 1/4" high.  Known fake Maple leaf backstamps are roughly 1/2" high.

As far as value, Nippon porcelain values are based on rarity and the quality of the piece.  I would say your Nippon porcelain plates are worth around $5-10 dollars a piece.
