PLEASE HELP

I don't know what this door lock was originally used for. It is metal and brass measuring 4 1/4" wide, 3 1/2" tall with a depth of about 3/4". It appears to be in perfect working condition as the handle will lock with the small knob next to it. Futhermore, there is also another locking bar down the left hand side whereby you can lock the bar in place. The emblem has "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE" and underneath is says "DIEU ET MON DROIT". I am an ex Household Cavalry Trooper so of course I am familiar with the terms which mean "Evil Be to Those That Evil Do" and "God and My Right". Any advice would be really helpful. Thank you!
