Description
Maynard Carbine, 2nd model, 50 caliber Maynard. This Civil War firearm is marked on the reverse frame in four lines “Edward Maynard Patentee May 27, 1851 Dec 6, 1859. The inspector’s initials of AJN appear on the reverse barrel breech. The serial number on the bottom trigger frame rear of lever is 112xx. The obverse frame bears the inscription in three lines Manufactured by Mass Arms Co Chicopee Falls. There are two government inspector’s cartouches on the reverse stock wrist. The butt plate top bears a small letter “s”. The overall condition is fantastic; the firearm has a strong breech lock, the lever lock is superb, sights are correct with the original two blade rear sight (however, the sight blade retention pin is missing and a wire has been inserted as a replacement eons past). The sling ring and bar are intact and original. The bore is clear, bright, and with strong rifling. The screws illustrate some slight use but without any major or unusual burring. There are traces of the original blueing and color casing, with patinae. All metals are clean and rust free. The stock is unbroken with the exception of a missing chip at the toe. There are storage and use marks on the stock but the stock is strong with well pronounced cartouches. The hammer drop is strong, the action is superb, and the original nipple is in place with just a slight evidence of firing. This carbine has been on exhibition in the South Carolina Civil War Museum.

We do not offer returns on firearms, ammunition, or reloading components. Buyers must be of legal age to purchase ammunition; ie, 18 for rifle and shotgun, 21 for handgun ammunition. Buyers are alerted to the fact that certain state of municipal codes may prohibit the purchase of antique firearms. Be sure to check your local codes prior to purchasing. We do not sell modern firearms, only those made prior to 1898 or blackpowder reproductions using flint or percussion ignition.
Returns require notification to us by the buyer before shipping. Buyer is responsible for shipping and returning the product to us in good order accompanied by the original packaging. Seller will determine that the item is the original item shipped to the buyer and if antique, not injured or altered in any manner other than damage that occurred during shipping to the buyer. We are not responsible for product misuse. A 20% restocking fee is required for all returns except for those damaged in transit from the seller to the buyer. In the case of returns damaged in shipment, the item must be returned in its original shipping container at the buyer’s expense until the claim is settled by the freight agent.
Black powder firearms cannot be shipped to New Jersey, New York City, Illinois, Michigan, or Canada. For all other states, please review your state and local laws before ordering.
