I believe you are right. The hardware seems thin compared to some of the others I’ve seen online. I suspect my husband is not remembering the date correctly. Maybe it was 1856 instead of 1756. It doesn’t really fit into our décor, will probably sell it sometime in the future.
I have a couple more pieces, (a desk and a serpentine chest) that I want to re-finish. But I want to make sure they are not valuable before I sand and paint.
I will post those to see what you think.
