I believe you are right. The hardware seems thin compared to some of the others I&#8217;ve seen online. I suspect my husband is not remembering the date correctly. Maybe it was 1856 instead of 1756. It doesn&#8217;t really fit into our décor, will probably sell it sometime in the future.<br />

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Bought many years ago, was told it was 1765 circa sea captain&#8217;s safe. Do not believe the stand is original. Wondering if I should sell it (what&#8217;s it worth?) or use it as a side table  🙂<br />
