ParticipantI have a set of Tootsietoys (vehicles) that are pre-1969. In the original molded tan/yellow plastic packageing less the wrapping or box. I discovered them when cleaning our Mom’s home. They had been sitting on the top of the armoire since I guess I had placed them there when I last played with them in the very early 70’s. Our parents were divorced and we lived with my Dad. We would visit our Mom in the Summer and at Christmas. I would take them down, play with them in the house, never outside, and then place them in their respective pre-molded slots and place them back up on the top of the armoire, I guess I became older at one point and the next visit my attention began to veer towards Revelle Models and putting those together instead. The Tootsietoys are a set of 20. I think they are rubber tires or a malleable plastic but I think they are rubber. All die cast 7 piece cars with no interiors or two tone painted surfaces. 4 columns by five rows in the original package. The package is not entirely pristine. The plastic has aged over the years sitting up high and exposed to the dry heat of forced air heating. So the packaging is chipped around some of the bottom edges. There is no back to the package. Perhaps at one time there may have been a cardboard backing glued to the outside edges but I am not sure it was long ago. I’m not interested so much in the money but just curious if there was any value to the set. I’m probably going to have a frame made for it. I will include a photo of the set and original package.
Thank you for your time.

ModeratorHi Charlton,
I do believe your Tootsietoys has value. I have not seen a set of 20 but a set of 12 sold in 2013 for $80. Because of the damage to the package I would estimate your set to be worth between $100 to $150.
Thanks,September 2, 2017 at 7:11 pm#3619Danny
ParticipantHi Charlton,
I have a number of Tootsietoys myself, some from when I was a youngster and others that I have bought along thew way. I know some are special, like I have a Semi-truck and flat bed trailer, two pieces with a small dirt track sprint car tootsie on the trailer. One Indy car I paid 6 bucks for was the most expensive of this version of the Tootsitoy car’s. I believe there are three sizes, with the smallest being the more recent. Anyway to your car’s, they are great in excellent condition, and find them on the top of that cabinet at your Mom’s! That’s crazy cool, and they were yours as a kid. Sorry to here about the divorce, how did your dad get lucky enough to get the kids? Just my thoughts you don’t have to answer that. My son lived with his mother she got custody, I barely got to see him, and generally as he grew older it became more of a pain to him having to come here on the weekends as they promoted as much 4H activity as they could, including multiple state events to where he gradually stopped coming totally and now I see him maybe a couple times a year, he lives 6 miles from me and is now 25. The good news is his room is still filled with numerous barely used items, whatever? Anyway I have seen a multitude of these cars in person and researching on-line and none of them have had half the paint on them that yours have. They are the best condition of any that I have ever seen, and they are a complete original set, with original garage. I never knew that such a set existed, just figured they came in singles like Hot Wheels. I suppose they must have been sold separately also. You wrote an excellent detailed description, very good! I would clean everything, not so much polish, but clean. Then frame the case and all, maybe that is what you meant? If you can, hold onto them for as long as you can, and I would value your set well over two hundred and in ten years I could see them increase to 5-700 dollars, no problem. Some dudes have money to pay for good shit and you have some good shit! Super, you should have some other stuff in good condition also, I can tell you have respect.good for you,
