ParticipantHello All,
Hello All,
I was wondering if any of you out there can help me get some info on my Great Grandpa’s Elgin 6 lever lock w/key? It’s in excellent condition and lock works smooth. I want to know about the maker (Elgin) as well as it’s age, value and everything else. I was also curious as to why the lock is silver, but it’s key is brass I believe. Anything you might know helps and thank you in advance.

ParticipantI also just noticed that there is a “2” engraved on the top part of the lock, what’s it stand for exactly? In the photos I took a pic looking it from both directions.

KeymasterYour Elgin six level padlock is a very common padlock stamped steel padlock. They usually sell in the $10-20 dollar range. Here are a couple of examples of the Elgin Six Lever padlock selling in that price range:

The number two stamped on the shackle could mean anything, but it doesn’t add to its value.
