Book is entitled: AURELIUS, Marcus ( Emperor of Rome). LES PENSEES MORALES DE
MARC ANTONIN EMPEREUR … In Douze Lirves … [ avec] la Vie de meme
empereur. A brief description : Jean Thioly: Lyon, 1669. Third edition, revised and enlarged. Duodecimo, 31
preliminary leaves, 251 pages, copperplate frontisiece portrait, contemporary
full leather, extra-gilt spine, front fore-edge chipped; ex libris Tellian. Date of publication: 1659, Dimensions: 2.5cm (Depth), 14.5cm(Length), 8cm(Diameter). This is a scarce, attractive edition of MEDITATIONS by Marcus Aurelius, who was remarkable as the Roman Emperor. This was translated into French from its original Greek – but allegedly for the Swedish market ( ?! ). It is a classic of world literature, and has been published many times. This edition is quite scarce. It appears to have been the only edition by this publisher. Interested parties are free to contact.
