Doll with bisque head is marked “698 1/2 Germany #7.” I found 698 1/2 in s site for dolls made by Alt, Beck and Gottschalck Dolls, but I cannot find a reference for a similar marking including #7. Can anyone point me to a website or reference material that explains the marks. This doll belonged to my Great Aunt Ida who was born in Oshkosh, WI in 1880. The doll has a cloth body and leather boots. It’s eye close when it is layed down. It’s mouth is open and it has teeth. Would this have been an average priced or expensive doll in its day?
