ParticipantWe were gifted this lamp and have done some research but cannot find any photos of this particular lamp. I am guessing it’s missing the top cap and the cord is badly frayed. Can you tell me if it’s a real 1900s Dirk Van Erp lamp and approximate it’s value? Or is it just a good replica? Thanks so much for your time!

ModeratorHi Jamie,
I can’t tell you if this is an original by a photo. The only trademark stamp I have seen has SANFRANCISCO under the DIRKVANERP name, but trademarks do change. Dirk Van Erp first studio was in Oakland California in 1908 but moved to San Francisco a year later. If your lamp is original I would estimate it to be worth $10,000 to $15,000. Definitely worth taking it to get a written appraisal.
Hope this helps
