ParticipantI was just wondering if anyone knows about religious medallions. I have come across one that I haven’t seen before nor can I find a related image online anywhere.
It’s 3.5 cms long and 2.5 cms wide
The wording on the front is “REGINA LABE CONCEPTA ORA PRO NOBIS” with L.PENIN & F.LVGD along the bottom and Mother Mary has her arms crossed
The wording on the back is “SUB TUO NOMINE ET PROTECTIONE LAETAMUR” with T O M along the bottom
All the medallions I find have the Mother Mary with her arms open and the front has the word “ORIGINALI” IN IT.
Any ideas?

KeymasterWell, “REGINA LABE CONCEPTA ORA PRO NOBIS” translates to “Conceived QUEEN FOR US” and “SUB TUO NOMINE ET PROTECTIONE LAETAMUR” translates to “Under your name and protection” which makes a lot of sense for a Mother Mary medallion.
Here’s a paper that explains the symbolism of the Mary with her arms crossed in more detail:

There are hundreds of similar Mother Mary medallions, just like St. Christopher, Mother Mary is a favorite among Christians. My mother prays to her, she might not have any power, but she’s a great role model and easy to relate to. My estimate of value would be in the $25-100 dollar range, if your medallion is silver.
