Pre-1970 Fishing Tackle Vol 2: Reels, Hooks, etc. by: Karl White

Book Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. OUR NOTES: Karl Whites three volume series has consistently remained one our most popular resources in this field. Taken together, they represent one of the most broad and comprehensive approaches to this highly collectible (and profitable) collecting hobby. I heartily recommend Karls 3 book set as a worthy addition to any collector or dealers reference library. -- John Kincaid, Collector Bookstore Authors Introduction: The purpose of this book is to identify and evaluate reels and metal lures dated up to 1970. Good reels usually have identification on them. Prices can fluctuate up to 50%, according to the demand of antique tackle. One thing to remember is that the better items keep getting more valuable and the common items stay about the same. Reel and lure sets (items of one companys production) and sets of all the individual reels produced of one type, should be at least 25% more valuable. The values in this book are rated as to excellent condition, although the items pictured might not be. Rarity, demand, condition and age determine value. Keep in mind that the higher the number of items found and in circulation, the lower the value is. A true collector obtains tackle for love of the hobby and not for the investment. The only common denominator that everyone understands is putting a dollar value on it. Good finds of antique fishing tackle are hard to come by and more people are collecting the 1940s, and later. In this book the lures are indexed alphabetically by manufacturer and by common name. The reels are indexed by manufacturer only. There are three indexes: Lure by Manufacturer Lure by Common Name Reels by Manufacturer The pictures in this book were done to give the best view of the item to help with identification. The sizes of the actual lures and reels are not relative to the picture size. All pictures were done by digital camera and are computer enhanced. Enlarged pictures may be obtained for a nominal fee. Best of luck and good hunting, Karl T White -- From Introduction of Contents, page 4

Shur Strike Minnows: The History, Models & Colors of Creek Chubs

Book Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. Collector Bookstore Notes: This color guide helps collectors identify and price vintage, unmarked Creek Chub Shur Stike Minnows. (Fishing lures) Publishers Full Description: Shur Strike lures have been a very misunderstood production lure. The confusion arises because they were made for retailers to sell, rather than under the name of the manufacturer, Creek Chub. A lot of collectors considered them a "cheap lure," but as the Shur Strike line became more understood over time, collectors have realized that these lures were by no means cheaply made. Whether it was the main Creek Chub line or the Shur Strike line, Creek Chub produced quality lures. Information has always been hard to find on Shur Strike lures. Since Creek Chub did not mark these lures with stencils or engraved lips, it has been difficult for collectors to identify these baits. Hopefully with the contents of this book, collectors will be able to identify and enjoy some of the most colorful and beautifully made lures of their time. 300+ Full Color images
