Rare Oak Library Chair

Rare Oak Library Chair Made By Augustus Eliaers, Boston. This Most Unusual Chairs Converts into Steps as Shown in the Photos. It is discussed in "Innovative Furniture in Amercia" by Thomas Hanks, Pages 173 - 175. A Similiar Chair is also Shown in "Styles of American Furniture" by Eileen and Richard Dubrow, Page 40. The Front has Ball in Claw Feet and the Top Crest has a Carved Head on Each Side. Old fabric. One arm has a small repair. This set of laminated rosewood dining chairs typifies Belters artistry in the use of the "S" scrolling in the legs and back of the chair carcass. Great style solid rosewood Renaissance Revival Victorianladies and gents chairs. Each chair has an intricately open carved crestwith a round medallion in the middle with inlay. The entire frame of eachchair is decorated with multi - colored inlays (some of this has beenrestored). Carved rosettes, original gilt incised carvings and claw feetenhance the design of the frames. The chairs are covered in an old velvetfabric. The quality and style of these chairs are indicative of the work ofPottier & Stymus, NYC, however, the chairs are not signed and we cant makea definitive attribution. Antique Low Bow Back Windsor Smokers Arm Chair

Antique low bow back Windsor smokers armchair, Windsor arm chair. This "antique Windsor chair" measures 16 and three quarter inches on the seat to the back. This antique arm chair measures 19 and one half inches to the seat top. This Windsor chair measures 34 inches high overall and is 20 and one half inches deep at the legs, front to back.
