All the pieces of this tea service are in excellent, vintage condition. The only note we make is of slight scratch lines on two of the plates. These are not knife gauges, but only surface markings we mention for the sake of accuracy. The Rosenthal pieces were purchased at an antique auction estate sale, and the sole previous owner was one of the first WAC nurses to serve during World War II. She bought them during the forties/fifties time frame and they have seen only minimal use. Mostly, they were displayed in her breakfront cabinet. The green stamp on the backside has the R.C. crown and X lines mark. Kronach, Bavaria, Form E (Elfenbeln time line from 1901-1956 for the Claudia pattern, and signed in gold ink, Waltrand (the artist or decoratorís name). This is a wonderful opportunity to own a complete Rosenthal tea and luncheon service of exceptional quality, and hand painted classic design.
