This all original Democratic Party political ticket measures 5 X 13 inches and is of the 1868 Presidential campaign between Seymour & Blair vs: Grant & Colfax for the Republicans. The ticket is headed by a panoply of flags with an American Eagle grasping a Seymour and Blair banner. The ticket is from Suffolk County, Massachusetts and provides names of Democratic Party electors and political candidates to include John Quincy Adams II as candidate for governor. Of particular interest to the political collector and sewing / needlework enthusiast is a printed cross stitch pattern on the back with touting the candidacy FOR CONGRESS - EDWIN C. BAILEY THIRD DISTRICT. An innovative political advertising feature, no doubt paid for by an enterprising candidate who realized that in a time of wide popularity of the handcraft, the needle work pattern would be a valued premium.
