1880s Copper RR Oil Lamp. Caboose Wall light , sconce

A neat old wall mount type Oil Lamp that came from a car or caboose run by the Union Pacific RailRoad. In the late 1800s, the railroad was the main means of cross country transportation and lights like this were found on the walls of every car being pulled along behind the steam locomotive. This very simple design would likely have been used to light the caboose or some other service crea, but what makes this one so special is its slightly smaller than usual size; about 11 inches tall, and the fact that it is made of copper. a rare, unusual and really great gift idea.
