Antique highly sentimental 15carat gold collar necklace with heart locket, miniature eye portrait, padlock and key. Made in England, circa 1790-1830. Just under 18inches long. Weighs 21.6grams. Collar of 4 fine gold chains, falling in swags and meeting at a heart-shaped locket from which are suspended tiny padlock and key charms / pendants. The padlock and key theme were very popular during the Georgian era. The locket opens to reveal a round compartment, with a fabulously well-painted miniature eye portrait. While most eye portraits have the iris in the center, this lady looks at the viewer from the corner of her eye, giving a mischievous, tantalising appearance, which adds to the intrigue of the portrait. Abundant brown curls are the only other clue to this lady of characters identity. The voluptiously formed heart, along with the lock and key make this the ultimate romantic necklace. Clasp on the side of the heart, makes it easier for the wearer to dress herself. Gold is not hallmarked, but tested and stays at 18 carats. We will guarrantee at least 15k gold. Very good condition. No damage of any sort to be found.
