PLEASE HELP

I have a brass lighter shaped like a book with intricate details and a level of craftsmanship that makes people look twice. Flower and vines are etched into its sides. The lighter works by rotating open out of the book and exposing the striker and flint. The fuel is stored in wadding within the lighter. I do not know exactly where or when it is from but it came to me as part of my families trove of World War 1 medals. My family is from Scotland. It still strikes a spark but I have not filled it up or cleaned it.

Hi Gordon,

I believe what you have is WW1 Trench art which is any decorative item made by soldiers,

prisoners of war or civilians where the manufacture is directly linked to armed conflict or its

consequences. I'm not sure you would be able to find any two just a like.

The estimated value is between $60 to $80. If you have on that is made into a puzzle type

with a secret way to open it. They sell for over $200 at auction.

Thanks,
