PLEASE HELP



I have a portable record player that works. It turn's, and plays music. Everything is intact. There is a slight hum sound you hear shortly after turning it on. Again its a Zenith, The model is BP 8-L. its 60 cyle, 45 Watts, and the Volts 117 AC. a similiar one can be found here http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=250215 does anyone know what it's worth?

Hi Rose,

Your 1958 Zenith portable record player is worth around $25-50 dollars, but it might be hard to find a buyer.  Record players from this era are fairly common and there isn't a huge market for them.

Always be careful plugging in vintage electronics, they didn't have the same UL (safety) codes back then and certain electrical components only last so long (capacitors).  Also, the insulation around wiring becomes dry rotted with age and doesn't provide the same level of insulation it once did.
